I am a stage IV lung cancer patient of Dr. David Carbone’s at James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. I believe in the concept of the “ripple effect.” This idea is based on the understanding that we are all connected. These connections stretch like a interwoven and complicated tapestry. As individuals we exist within this tapestry and our lives and actions are like stones dropping in a pond. Each stone creates ripples that travel outward. Everything we do affects the people in our lives, and their reactions, in turn, affect others.
Sometimes, the choices we make have far reaching consequences. Each of us possesses the capacity to change the world in small ways for the better. For me, being proactive and making choices that promote positive change are part of who I am. I am a leader by nature, and I am passionate about contributing to the goal of ending lung cancer for future generations. I believe that partnerships are vital to the growth of the lung cancer research community.
